Keynote: Humanizing Technology in the Age of Industry 4.0

Technological advances are reshaping humanity and society at an unprecedented pace as a result of the unique convergence of the digital, physical and biological worlds. These advances offer many potential benefits to the individual and to society. At the same time, as in previous industrial revolutions, there are expected to be major disruptions, only to be accelerated and globalized in this century. What are the policy, ethical, economic and societal implications?

How will human behaviour and interaction with technology influence the course of events? How will education, employment and mobility change in response to disruptions? What is at stake? These are some of the issues that will be examined in this lecture.
